Elmar Bijlsma
Uhm... what anti virus do you use? Even with dodgy sites and whatnot something like AVG or McAfee should keep you safe(ish). I haven't found a virus in years.
Michael Emrys
I haven't found a virus in years. That's because they are hiding in a unused corner of your hard drive. There in the dark they breed and form their armies of destruction. The day is not far off when they will spring forth to rape and pillage every app in your system as part of their jihad of world conquest. Have a nice day. Other Means
Get this fella, it's free and good: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/ Also, stop using Internet Explorer, get one of these: http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/firefox/ http://www.google.com/chrome http://www.opera.com/download/ TBH there's not a lot to choose between them now, the last one, Opera, is probably safest as it's the least used and so less targeted.
MSBoxer
OK, here is what I have done for several family members. Set up one master user that is password protected that has full rights on the computer...THIS IS YOU. Everyone else has limited user rights that do not allow the installation of new software. This will allow them to download or create any files they need, but they CANNOT install new software, or have new software installed for them. This in conjunction with Microsoft Security Essentials has kept several family computers clean, even with a horde of download happy teenagers. Of course YMMV.
gautrek
Lets see.I use nod32 and Comodo firewall.I also use firefox. But my problem is i don't know what the bloody kids use.I keep finding bloody Safari installed on my PC by them and then they just download "Usefull" tool-bars like Carebear.I wouldn't mind but they are 17 and 18 so should know better. I dread to think what sites they are using and what they click on while there.I keep ranting at them but it just goes in one ear and out the other.
Other Means
Yep, do as MSBoxer said and create yourself an admin account and add them as restricted users.
