Help changing resolution

Recommended Posts

I have an issue. I have reinstalled CMBB after a very long hiatus and have evidently chosen the wrong resolution. I can play the game just fine, but all my text and numbers are white blocks instead of letters. I have searched the forum, and know I'm supposed to delete the prefs file from the Combat Mission 2 folder. However, I can't find that file. Unless it's hidden in the folder or somewhere else, I can't find it. I'm running Vista and have bought and applied the Vista upgrade.

Also, I can't seem to get the patches to stick. I have downloaded .01, .02, and .03, but after I apply them, and re-do the Vista thing, it still shows as being version 1.0.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!

Re patches - IIRC there were different patches for different version of CMBB depending on the distributor CDV or BFC - Are you using the correct vendors patches on your disk install?

Make sure to right-click on the patch and select "Run as administrator" from the popup menu. Since your game is most likely installed in the '\Program Files' directory this will be necessary.

As Wicky pointed out, make sure you are using the correct patches for your distribution. Battlefront patches should be applied ONLY to the games that were purchased from our website. If you have a retail game, then it most likely is a CDV distributed version and it will have different patches. Also, make sure that if the patch extracts to a directory, that it is the actual directory that you have the game installed into. If you have used something other than the default directory this can definitely be an issue.

The problem with the text appearing as white blocks is most common for ATI Radeons. So the 'Radeon_Text_fix' is what you will need, which replaces some bitmaps in the game with a version that has yellow text on a black background. It's not a perfect workaround, but it works for most of the text issues in the game.
