My first CTD in SF - Out of memory error

Recommended Posts

I've just experienced my first ever CTD! I had just won the Milk Run in the marines campaign, cancelled the save game, and it started to load the next briefing. 18% and it crashed to desktop reporting a out of memory error. I had to reload the older save game, play it through to expiry and saved the end game. Then it let me continue.

There have been a number of reports of the 'Out of Memory' error. I haven't followed up on this lately and I need to find a way to get them to Charles to look at during the NATO/CMSF work to see if there is anything that can be done about them.

We will need the save games that can produce these crashes. Unfortunately email may not be an adequate method to transfer files over 10MB.

I seem to have this error in a repeatable form.

I have just started the first scenario of the Dutch campaign.

I load a saved game. I have 2 at the moment it does not seem to matter which I load. One only has about 2 turns.

I then quit and try to load again. Does not seem to matter if I load a saved game or re-start the scenario. Before I get half way through loading the game crashes with the out of memory error.

If I then restart the game either restarting the campaign or loading a saved game works fine.

The computer I am running this on I put together myself, but it has a reasonable amount of memory and is stable. If you are still investigating this and can't recreate it from this, let me know any additional information you need by email.

hi - just got a ctd with an out of memory error tonight, have never had it before.

Happens when trying to load a save from the German campaign, the mission is "panzer hurra" (or something like that). Happens similarly to the way it's happening to Ashur above.

Let me know if you'd like me to send the save, or if it's better to open a ticket.
