Chops
A new interview with Steve at Armchair General- http://www.armchairgeneral.com/combat-mission-shock-force-afghanistan-interview.htm
MikeyD
Ah, I would've misses it! Thanks for linking. Reading it over it seems Steve may have missed a golden opportunity to try out some appropriately colorful adjectives descriptive of the product. Engrossings, entertaining, satisfying, fun, original, lively, provocative, stimulating, diverting, etc. Basically, he should've jumped up and down on the couch Tom Cruise-style. This is the second standalone title out of their game engine - this is a big deal! More adjectives! and more exclamation points!
Chops
I agree Mikey, the interview is short on new information also. The author could have at least included some new screenshots, and a discussion about new features. Isn't water supposed to make a debut in this game?
MikeyD
I looked in their CM:Afghanistan product website and discovered in the 'features' section they do have a screenshot of a winding river with tree-lined river banks. Very un-CMSF-like.
AkumaSD
Thanks for the link. I can't wait for the game to come out.
Clavicula_Nox
I'm also excited. Afghanistan, NATO, and Armed Assault 2's Operation Arrowhead. It would be cool if CM: Afghanistan and NATO came out soon.
Nicdain
a screenshot of a winding river with tree-lined river banks. Yes, but that river seems pretty dry...
Sequoia
From an old post almost a year ago: Oh, and no water or bridges in Afghanistan. We've only got the basic elements of that working right now and haven't yet begun to test the PathingAI, which no doubt has bugs in it since, well, it's untested. Charles writes excellent code on his first pass, but he isn't perfect Steve
MikeyD
Take my word for it, there's water terrain in there. Maybe not the fanciest water in the gaming industry, or the wettest, but there's water.
Sequoia
You're right. The text below is from the same page as the screenshot: "But it doesn't end there. CM Afghanistan introduces completely new features to the series, such as: •Drozd Active Defense system (on T-55AD and T-62D; shoots down incoming RPGs) •Multi-barreled rapid-fire cannon (e.g. ZSU-23 Shilka, Kamaz ZU-23) •New terrain such as Snow (on the ground) and Water •Exit Zones (a new type of objective)"
