Other Means
Recognises the chip, validates the RAM, hangs then re-boots. (I'm on the crappy laptop BTW) So, given I've got a Quad Q9550 (LGA775 socket) and a GeForce 250 GTX, what the best mobo anyone can recommend? Thanks.

Sergei
It will reboot on the third day. Dunno, but are you already sure it's your mother board, not eg. power source failing?
MeatEtr
Odds are, power supply is dieing, then that can lead to either CPU or MB failing.
Other Means
It's a new, top quality PSU. Surely if it was going it wouldn't get as far as it does?
Affentitten
It's a new, top quality PSU. Surely if it was going it wouldn't get as far as it does? But is it high enough rated for what you're running off it? I had the same problem when I put a new graphics card in - the PSU just couldn't supply enough amps(?) so the whole machine would fail in the PST phase.

And TBH it's been running with no difficulties for a while now. Something must have blown.
Other Means
Guess what? It was a gob of fluff + dog hair stopping the fan on the video card from spinning. Cleaned it and it started working straight away. It actually wasn't that much fluff. Need to keep an eye on it I guess.
