John Kettler
In the wee hours this morning, I noticed that the sites I was visiting had semidisintegrated, in that where text used to appear, there were blocks of tiny squares, each representing one character. It was as though, to one degree or another, the sites were displaying the layout code or some such. Degree varied, with some sites being still quite usable (this one) and others being almost nothing but background color, avatar images and great areas of tiny blocks. Reload failed to clear the condition, both last night and today, but a cold reboot of both computer and modem seems to have corrected this to me unique glitch. Did any of you run into this, and does anyone have a serious explanation to offer as to likely or known cause? Regards, John Kettler

Michael Emrys
Did any of you run into this...[?] Nope. I turned on my computer around 0300 PST and didn't encounter anything like that. ...does anyone have a serious explanation to offer as to likely or known cause? Don't have an answer, but you might want to test your video card. Michael
xor+
Perhaps the alphabet got abducted by aliens Nah, it's routine maintenance. They're cleaning the character sets during off hours. Just imagine how they would look after a few weeks if they never did that. The e's usually get worn out first.

souldierz
Oddly enough, I remember seeing something similar before on a couple website a while ago.I remember that, because it looked unique. The web site was half faded and a little blurry and out of focus, and vaguely you could see small figures, something that resembled and looked like the code you see in the movie 'The Matrix',all those 1 and 0 trying to form an image.I thought it was a glitch with their web site, and that the code to form the images was only half working.I never seen it again anywhere else, and I don't remember what site it was. It could even be a site you linked me to for all I know, Have you been digging somewhere, where you shouldn't have been, John?
Other Means
Did you mess up character encoding so you weren't using the latin alphabet?
Affentitten
I'd say it's definitely subliminal messages from the Reptiloids. They've got us all hooked into staring at the screen for some many hours, it's how they flash up the control commands without us realising it. Kettles has just seen the fnords.
hoolaman
Did you mess up character encoding so you weren't using the latin alphabet? That's my guess, or an acid flashback (equally likely).
