Buy SC2 Blitkrieg and SC2 Pacific?

Recommended Posts

Is there any reason to buy both Strategic Command 2 Blitzkrieg *and* Strategic Command 2 Pacific? From the ads on this site it looks like the Pacific Theater of WWII is now included in SC2 Blitz. Gamewise, what's the difference between how the Pacific Theater is handled in SC2 Blitz and SC2 Pacific?

Thanks.

SC2 Blitzkrieg covers the European Theater only, so if you want to enjoy some action in the Pacific then you'll need to get SC2 Pacific.

In addition, there are many differences between the two, some of which are quite significant. For instance, one big change of direct relevance to the Pacific was the introduction of new carrier features, so that now they have a choice of modes, where they can choose to launch just fighters, or just naval bombers, or a mixture of the two (i.e. some Kates and Vals with an escort of Zeros).

The AI has also been improved since SC2 Blitzkrieg, and the Pacific features Decision Events that SC2 Blitzkrieg didn't. These are situations where the player is given a choice, so that (for example) the USA can choose where to deploy some its bombers, whether or not to send "Vinegar Joe" Stilwell to serve with the Chinese, etc. These are just two quick examples off the top of my head, and they all add a little something to the game.

I would strongly recommend trying out the demos for both, and seeing which one takes your fancy the most. SC2 Blitzkrieg can of course be upgraded with the expansion packs like Weapons and Warfare, whereas SC2 Pacific is a stand alone game. Or just buy both! :)

To be honest I don't think you can explain all the differences between the two. Bottom line though would be try the demos, get blown away, and then buy the games. WAW is also something you should consider buying, you can get it as a bundle and save a few bucks.

Gunhawk, honestly, buy both.

The SC2+WAW bundle and the Pacific Theater game.

And if you have some more money to spend, than you should definetly buy the Patton drives east Expansion which offers even more great european campaigns.

All of these games are great, you can't make any mistake no matter which one you buy.

SC2 is a good game about WW2 in Europe.

WAW introduced many great ideas and new scenarios.

PDE brought even more great ideas and fantastic "what if" scenarios

PT covers the Pacific Theater of WW2, and is in my eyes the first "great" game about this theater of war which is easy to learn, hard to master and with great replayability.

All of them offer a very good quality and a devoted team which make the game better and better.

Like these guys say, its hard to go wrong with the SC purchase, any version, mainly because of the plethora of excellent community made custom campaigns.

I'm a naval-air oriented person, so PT is my fav, the world campaigns(customs) with this version are awesome. Its an easy choice for me if you have to pick one, I own all but PDE, go cuttin edge, PT is where SC is at.
