Was terrain really like this?

Everything I've read about the US-German campaign in Tunisia mentions that it took place during the rainy season, and that the terrain was very lush and green, with cornfields, etc. Even Rommel (quoted in "Trail of the Fox") remarked on how fertile and lush the area looked, and how it could make an ideal place for future German settlements.

But this game's terrain -- in the demo battles, at least -- make it look totally dusty and desertlike. Are all the maps like that? Or is it because these particular battles were up in high-desert mountains and passes?

The terrain is definitely somewhat exaggerated and a bit "Hollywood." At least they changed some of the palm trees into olive trees or something in a concession to the real world. ;) It is probably more appropiate for central Tunisia than northern Tunisia.

these ones are said to be taken at El Guettar but the landscape seems to be more like northern Tunisia, I think that they should be taken during "Eilbotte" Operation as some Tigers were lost there.

I'll bet that is Patton -- I'd know those pearl-handled pistolas anywhere.

I think General Patton would want me to note that the pistol handles were ivory rather than pearl.

And yes, I agree, the photos are excellent. Color shots really show the nature of the terrain in a way black & white cannot.

well on the Photos above i just see Pz III and IV but no Tigers sorry the 3rd i am not Sure shows a Semovente maybee with 105mm Gun.

But no where a Tiger.......

Maybe a modder will be able to make a terrain patch that just changes the grass in TOW2 to make it a little greener and vegetation a little more prevalent. That would probably cause a greater burden on video cards, but it would also give infantry a little more ability to hide themselves.
