JoMac
Hello fello CM gamers, Are there any limitations to guns rising or depressing in CM ( have always noticed over time, but never asked till now ). Just seems any vehicle can find a hull down position on a ridge and still fire without worry of being too close to the enemy.
JoMac
Ok, using the search feature, I have finally located my answer. There are no gun elevation limitations in CM, but hopefully in CMx2 this will be looked at more closely.
Tux
I've often wondered the same thing - thanks for clearing it up mate.
ww2steel
I agree, it would be nice if there, even if they just used generic values like -10, +20. Sometimes I have seen really ridiculous angles. I have not tested that there are really NO limits, but it is not historically limited. I do understand why they do not have historic limits- simply because the data is often very hard to impossible to find. I think I might do some tests tonight to check this... will post. ww2steel
Got bored today and tested it on a cliff. The barrel seems to go at or near realistic max values, but it seems that there are no limits to how far up or down the projectile can go. Sergei
There's no gun elevation limits because it would be impossible for the AI to choose proper firing positions in any kind of hilly terrain. Not to mention how impossibly difficult it would be for the player. It'd need a special interface for sure.
