Edward Windsor
Every time I insert my CMBO disk (CDV version) it tries to reinstall the bloody game - despite the fact it's present and correct on my hard drive and I just want to play the damn thing. Please help me cut down on my cussing and tell me how to stop this *7^%$£@**!

Edward Windsor
B*gg*r. Looks like I'll have to learn to live with it. Thanks for the replies. Teddy Boy
Madmatt
Since you have the CDV version you will need to contact their tech support directly. Their installers are different than what we use on our versions so I can't really help you on this one. Madmatt
Len
I think you need to disable the "autorun" or "autoplay" feature of Windows for your CD drive. Exactly how this is done depends on the Windows version - try checking the Help. I think you can also disable this feature each time you insert the CD by holding down the shift key while the CD loads. Edward Windsor
Just visited the CDV forums - they're not exactly "happening", are they? I couldn't find a specific messageboard for Combat Mission and I had to blow the cobwebs off my monitor after visiting the general one Thanks for the tip, Len. I don't want to disable autorun permanently, but I'll try holding down "shift" next time I stick in the CD. Mercury
I overcome this problem by simply leaving the CD in all the time.......then there is no autoplay and I can click on the shortcut which gets me straight to the game. Hope this helps my Lord.
Edward Windsor
Mercury, my good man, this would be a most excellent suggestion, but sadly I have three CDs (CMBO, CMBB and GPL) yet only a duo of drives. And that's before one indulges in any naughtiness ... like "backing up" my close chum's music collection Nice try, but I'm going to have to postpone your OBE for another year...
Doomed
I decided to report this to CDV because it is a bit of nuisance and eventually got an email back telling me to report it to Battlefront.
Schrullenhaft
Only the CDV version has an 'autoinstaller'. The BTS version doesn't have autoinstall code on the CD. The above mentioned behavior is common for autoinstall CD's. If you remove the CD and reinsert it later the autoinstall code will run the install program again. This is normal and expected. I don't know what the CDV autoinstaller looks like, but maybe they need more menus if it just starts to copy files right when you insert it (which I doubt it does). This isn't a product that is being updated anymore, so no more changes are being made to the program to change any of this behavior.
