Talerus
I had attempted to make use of the "help features" of the Battlefront site to see if any problems I'm currently experiencing might be able to be addressed there. However, I seem to be ineligible to recieve assistance throught that medium. Thus, enough of that and onto the problem. I run an HP dv9000 which operates via Windows Vista Home Premium and utilizes a Nvidia Go 7600 graphics card. CMBO is v1.12 from the disk, which was actually ordered for a Macintosh computer before I had this one. (If the program for either operating system is included on a given disk, why is it that one is requested to order for a specific OS, or am I mistaken?) The major problem with the program is that fog does not appear during an operation which should have fog; all other visuals seem to be fine. My current problem was not adressed in the FAQ as I have a Nvidia card, not ATI, which was cited for causing the problem in certain Windows machines. Note also that no "compatibility" settings have been inacted... the program worked immediately. Other minor issues are slight freezings: these can be corrected but are rather annoying. Furthermore, the program will at times minimize for no apparent reason. I feel this is more likely a problem with the actual operating system than anything else, however. Your help shall be greatly appreciated, -Michael
leakyD
For any CMx1 titles, your best results will be in WinXP.
Talerus
Thank you very much. I'll have to try and run CMBO in compatibility mode at some point. -Michael
Talerus
I'd like to bring this issue up once more, maybe with a bit more clarity. I bought version 1.12E from GOG.com recently, in hopes of it solving the lack of fog/certain adverse weather effects. Unfortunately, there's no joy there, and I still don't have any fog. The last time CMBO worked completely well was with a Mac OS9 computer I used to run... That said, if there's someone out there who still runs CMBO, AND runs it with fog/weather effects, what are you doing? I'd really love to know so I can do it myself!
canovaro
I run cmbo on several different Windows 7 machines. Even x64 works fine. I never tried Vista.
JoMac
Talerus, From my understanding reading the Battlefront Tech Forums, Win XP supports FOG but Vista/Win 7 drivers doesn't. I noticed this, because on one computer with Win XP the FOG displays in CMBO, CMBB & CMAK, but the other computer with Win 7 doesn't display FOG. Schrullenhaft
JoMc67 is correct as far as I'm aware. The video card companies (along with Microsoft) dropped support for fog-tables in Windows Vista and later in DirectX. Under Windows XP fog-tables appear to still be supported (even with newer drivers), but the video drivers for Window Vista and later (7, 8, etc.) no longer support them.
canovaro
I run cmbo on several different Windows 7 machines. Even x64 works fine. I never tried Vista. I tried again and I do NOT have fog in Windows 7. Otherwise it works fine. Just no fog visible.
