Performance, Is it me or the game ?

Hi Guys

I've been following this game for a long time, I love realistic war games and I was hopig that this game gona be something great. My first and huge dissapointment somewhere around release day was performance of the demo on my old rig. I decident not to buy the game.

Some time passed , I changed my rig and decided to give it another try, I also notice that demo is now patched to 1.07 , great ! I've downloaded the demo, launch it and noticed that absolutely nothing changed since release day.....

Could You explain me how it is possible to game which looks like CM:SF ( dont get me wrong, game looks ok to me but its more like decent 2-3 years old graphic, nothing more) runs about 5-25 FPS on my rig :

- C2D 6550 ( 2.33 GHz)

- 3 GB DDR2 Ram

- GF8800GTS

- SATA HDD

And I event didnt put it on high settings, it was medium or even below medium.

Can You exlain me what can I do to enjoy this game ? I really want to buy it but I dont wana play game witch looks like 2-3 years old game and runs worse than Crysis on my rig ? O_o

My laptop is above the minimum and recommended specs and can't run the game at an acceptable frame rate.

I haven't tried playing it since v1.05 and just tried again on v1.08 but no luck. It is better than the slideshow it used to be, but still more frustrating than fun once the action starts.

Oh well. I will wait for more patches since it seems to be improving speed on each release.

I'm running the game on a 8800GT and its still a little slow. Part of the slowness is coding, the other is the vast amount of units/objects displayed at one time. CMSF is far more taxing on a system than Crysis is, even though the graphics aren't as good looking as a top of the line FPS, for that very reason.

I've read manual and I can imagine how many calculations CPU has to handle during large battle but game lags even during pause or unit deplyment so its not tha case. I'm afaid it is just poor engine :/

Actually it is only game that lags on my new rig, didnt played a game which lags on med settings with my new rig. Most of games runs smoth on high settings. I've just played company of heroes which I believe is pretty much demending game and it was running great on high settings.

Company of Heroes doesnt have the ballistic model that CMSF has. Its all about what's "under the hood" whats making your PC cringe with CMSF engine

But as I said earlier, it is laggy even when it is on pause, no action, no shoting nothing to calculate, only moving over static battlefield. I noticed that when i change field of view to top down and from low altitude I gain abou 300% FPS but the moment I change angle to see more of the battlefield it drops to ~20 sometimes under 10 O_o. It's very hard to find your units on battlefield and give them proper orders when everything lags like hell. No way to play it in real time , only turn based game and even this isn't comfortable.

One of the big lag factors seems to be AA settings and Vsync.

Well, I must admit that tips from tweaking thread helped a bit with my ridiculous FPS. Not tu much but now it is 5-50 not 5-25 Still I'm having lots of anoying lag but a game is bit more playable. Ive played through demo yesterday and I'll propably buy the game. Im just hoping that 1.08 patch is not the last one
