SIO
The game runs ok on video cards with shader 2.0 support. Namely, starting from GeForce 5700 up and ATI Radeon 9600 up. The game also works on GeForce 4600 Ti. The game DOES NOT work on Intel integrated graphics chipsets 915, 945 and up. There can be some problems with integrated graphics from ATI. We kindly suggest to download the latest drivers for your video cards, so that the game could run fine. Most of the bugs were related to the older driver versions. FanzerPaust
SIO, with all do respect, but are you guys reading the forum? everybody has the new drivers, and almost no one has an intel integrated card.
Madmatt
Actually FanzerPaust, there are some people that do have that Intel Chipset and he has also confirmed issues we are seeing with the ATI Xpress Intergrated Chipset, so this info is important to get out. I am working on a full status update and troubleshooting guide to help try and consolidate all the information into one easy-to-assess format. More than anything I want to try and get updated and accurate information out to you (and fixes of course) but its not easy but we are making headway. Just bare with us a little longer. Thanks! Spartan
SIO, I am sorry. ATI express 200 was designed specifically for Directx9. It runs every other game I have beautifully yet runs TOW at 1 frame every three seconds at the lowest settings and you say its the card. I just dont understand your logic with this. TOW must be doing something every other game designer doesnt for there to be such a difference! A question: Why does the autodetect detect my game at max settings on this video card? Bsmooth
I can say that the ATI 9800 Pro does run TOW with the latest drivers. This is the system I have and it runs TOW quite well: 2.8 Ghz with 1 GB of RAM,ATI 9800 Pro video card, and Turtle Beach Santa Cruz audio card. dogstar23
Bsmooth, What ATI 9800 Pro settings are you using? I have almost exactly the same set up, except with 2 GM Ram and the game will not launch for me. I have tried every trick suggested. Sam

Karl Anderson
Me too with the choppy frame rate- can only move the camera in pause mode. Turned everything way down, partial improvement only. Upgraded my video card with no change at all! (From a Radeon 9800xt 256MB to a Radeon x1650 Pro 512MB) Specs: Intel 2.80 GHz 2 GHz RAM DDR400 Radeon x1650 Pro 512MB Latest Drivers Even reset the page file, but no dice. Runs Medieval 2 Total War pretty smoothly at full bore, but not TOW.
dmg
Specs: Intel 2.80 GHz What type of Intel CPU do you have in particular? Dual core, Pentium D, Pentium 4 or anything else? If it is a multicore cpu, did you try set / reset option "Use only one CPU" in towsetup.exe? Also, if option "Use only one CPU" does not help you and your cpu is multicore, please check SIO's advices at http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=66;t=000143 and tell weather it helps you or not. Runs Medieval 2 Total War pretty smoothly at full bore, but not TOW. I'm not acquainted with this game. Does it use OpenGL or Direct3D? The fact is ToW uses OpenGL (Direct3D is used by MissionEditor only). So to get to know if there is any video drivers issue that affect the performance, it must be compared to OpenGL-engine games (e.g. Doom3). A video driver might be optimized for Direct3D but not support OpenGL at all (or support it with great performance issues) and vice-versa. Bsmooth
Ok Matt will try turning off shadows.Although loading times are very long(this is only for training missions too, haven't tried regular missions)I have found the sim runs quite well on my minumum system so far. I still haven't found out how to really move the camera around so I can see any detail though.I'm trying to read the manual at the same time. I wish it was still winter here so I could spend more time with it,although here in New England sometimes it seems more like winter anyway. If I can run TOW then there should be more of you out there who can run it too,so keep at it. Thanks again to Maddmatt and all the others who are helping us! TuuSaR
"The game also works on GeForce 4600 Ti." yeah, but I think it needs some very top end CPU to do that.
