Sequoia Posted January 16, 2007 Share Posted January 16, 2007 Can anyone tell me if the M1008 or M1009 CUCV 1.25 ton truck is used by any units in Iraq besides rear echelon (not to say there really is a rear in Iraq)? I've never seen them in Iraq, but I can't imagine anyone would ever take them out of the FOB if they were there. Battlefront.com Posted January 16, 2007 Share Posted January 16, 2007 Yeah, unless the Army has run out of better equipment to plunder from the National Guard (and they might have!) there is no way a vehicle like this would be over there. All sorts of outdated and aging equipment was in theater at the very start, but it didn't last long. Driving around Baghdad at 50mph in 120 deg heat is a lot different than the occasional trip out of the motor pool to pick up some beer and pretzels Plus, we wouldn't waste our time on something like this anyway. Seriously though, I know the CUCV was really stretching it and it sounds like they aren't even in Iraq but I thought with the new emphasis on depth, rather than breadth, if you throw in the modules you'd actually get more vehicles for a time period than, say, CMBO provided.
