rune
red Dog, try downloading again, sounds like you may have a corrupt download. Rune

Red Dog
At this point I'm willing to try anything... Don't see any option for administrator rights when I right click. Have to go to work for the next 48 hours in just a few more hours... this day is not turning out the way I planned it.
tdkpetrus
I have the same problem. I disabled Data Execution Prevention for "CM Shock Force.exe" in the control panel (system->advanced->performance settings->data execution prevention), and got rid of: After that, it just doesn't do anything. Sometimes it just leaves the executable as a process consuming about 7MiBs of ram. When I set it to win98 compatibility (a desperate hope) it behaves the same, but now and then I get this instead: Core2duo E6600 2GB ram 8800gtx (nvidia forceware 182.18) x-fi WinXP SP2 patched to the current state. I tried downloading three times so far, with different clients. I don't think the download is corrupt at this point. Stryker
On Vista32 I had to run as administrator, otherwise I would click on the icon and nothing happens. Maybe you are not admin on your XP?

Red Dog
I'd assume I'm the admin, since I'm the only user on it. At least I'm not the only one having trouble.
rune
reddog, Try this: 1. Right-click on "My Computer" 2. Select "Properties" 3. Click on the "Advanced" Tab. 4. Click on the Performance "Settings" Button 5. Click on the "Data Execution Prevention" Tab 6. Verify that "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only" is selected. If it is not, select that option and click "APPLY" and then try and run the game. Note: Even if you see that option checked already, go ahead and uncheck and then recheck it to ensure that its activated! Rune

Grey Hunter
BINGO! thanks rune. had DEP set to make another game work, odd that it works automatically but not when I manually let it through. ah well, now to war!
