Runyan99
What are the implications of the friendly spotting function on the Elite level? If Bradley 1 cannot see Bradley 2, so what? Does this come into play for C3 for dismounted infantry?
thewood
I was just about to type in a new topic when yours popped up. I have been playing a lot with Elite level to what the implications are for friendly FOW and can't seem to find any other than it making it a little harder to find some units on the map.
Runyan99
I guess it would be important for Syrian irregulars or WW2 squads that rely on line of sight for command and control, but for modern units with radios and GPS devices, it must not be an issue.
metalbrew
If a unit is unaware that a friendly unit is in a building and they spot an enemy in that same building, they could fire on the building causing friendly casualties. You know that cool Mk19? It chews up Americans too.
thewood
Great point. Especially in complex urban settings it is an issue.
aka_tom_w
Is this still an issue?
panzermartin
So far,I dont see any point in friendly spotting. Friendly fire is not simulated anyway.
stikkypixie
Do units close to each other share faster information? Even if there is no HQ nearby?

It does not seem so to me. In fact, it seems as if blue force tracking even using mark 1 mode 0 eyeballs is hosed up.
aka_tom_w
I am talking about Elite FOW The unit next to your own friendly unit (WITH visual contact) diplays as a ? and you don't see the unit until you click on its HQ unit or click on the map to deselet all units. In Elite FOW if you select an inf squad, ALL other icons of other units not subordinate in the chain of command to the inf squad you selected turn into ?'s AND you can't band box select them in a group selection. That is an issue for me.
