bartbert
What level of pilot and aircraft are you flying? Also, what type of missions (1v1, 2v2, dogfight, escort)? I'll try something equivalent to see if it happens to me. [ January 25, 2006, 08:01 PM: Message edited by: bartbert ]
Skuderian
Hi! Now game is hanging every 5th game... Most times bot is discarding or bot is making an altitude change...
bartbert
Ok. I made another adjustment to the program. Hopefully, this one will do the trick.
fej425
I just rattled off 6-7 games with no problems. Would love to 'test' more but gotta get off to work.
Guest Mike
I haven't had a hang for a couple of days now, but then I've only had time for 2-3 games/night. Edited to add: In "response" to Lakespeed's post below - I'm mainly flying 2:2 dogfights with high level pilots (8-10,000). I also fly occasional 1:1's if I lose ED, and escorts and occasional 1:1's with moderate level pilots (200-1200pts) [ January 26, 2006, 02:44 PM: Message edited by: Stalin's Organist ]
lakespeed
I fly 75% escort, 25% 1 vs. 1 missions. They hang on both. The reason i was pissed last time and gave up was because it was turn 6, element 4, and the bot played a vertical roll for altitude change and the game locked up. It used to almost never happen but now it's happening to me a lot. I'll try the new patch tonight and let you know how it goes. *crosses fingers*
lakespeed
Ok, I played about a dozen games and no hangups. Looks like you might have nailed it Brian! *double-crosses fingers* I'll try again tomorrow and let you know.
bartbert
Whew! I was starting to think I might need to have all my mail checked for explosives and anthrax if I didn't get it fixed soon.

lakespeed
I think you also fixed the sound coming on problem too, I just tried it for the first time in a while and the sound didn't come on. Thanks guys, it's appreciated. Now to finally convince my brother to get the game, I used to smack him around in the board game all the time so he's gun-shy!
Zanadu
I have had one hang up. It was right at the end of an 'interception' game. The AI friendly leader had just shot down the last e/a (He111) and the game quit moving. Just sat there, unwilling to finish, and put up an error notice. When I quit the game, it counted my damaged leader as 'bailed out' and my undamaged wingman as 'damaged', by the fatigue it gave them.
fej425
Zanadu, that is actually a seperate issue. In your case the game actually completes and you get credit for all your kills, etc, and your other pilots have their fatigue reduced. The only thing that doesn't happen is the 'score' screen doesn't show up at the end of the mission. I've had a few of those here and there as well, but they are nowhere near as bad as losing kills to a game that never completes but still having to eat the fatigue. Zanadu
Unfortunately it over fatigues the pilots in the game seriously. I hand copied the 'Error' message. It is as follows (best I can copy from hand notes: Error occurred in : mscorlib Description: Collection was modified; enumeration operation may not execute. Track Info: at System.Collections.ArrayListEnumeratorSimple. More next() at bartbert.games.difo.client.forms.MainForm. PlayBombers()
Checkmate King 2
Add another game owner to the list. I've had several games hang up on me. However, It's happening to me while I'm just playing the computer. Since I use Zone Alarm, I haven't been successful on starting any missions on the internet yet. I know I have to shut down Zone Alarm to be able to play DIF on the internet. But until I find a replacement firewall to use just for playing DIF via the internet, I'm stuck having to playing the AI!!
bartbert
Checkmate, have you pulled down the latest version?
fej425
Checkmate, I'm using ZoneAlarm and have no problems at all. Have you given DiF permission to access the internet in ZoneAlarm?
Checkmate King 2
I just had another hang up during my 2nd game of the day. The 1st game I played as the British. If I'm not 100% sure the game will run right (hang up), I will play another nation before I play my favorite one (US). I had no problem during the British game. I finished that one and started another game as the US. My leader & wing man and the computer US leader and wingman all had Wildcats. I went through my turn; started at very high and dropped to high; I did not attack anyone. Next came element 2's turn; Japanese KI-61-I Tony (L). The wingman targets the US computer controled leader and does a maneuver. Next, the game hangs up with the US leader rocking back and forth, left to right. End Of Flight/ game and I'm still in Turn 1!!!!

My problem comes in after I select a mission and after clicking on the Dogfight Preview. After clicking on it I get the background colors, blue for the sky, black for the pilot and plane info but, no pictures of the planes. Next the game "seams" to freeze up on me.
bartbert
I'd start by going to the "Help" menu, and then "Check for updates" to make sure you have the latest files. If that doesn't resolve the problem, send an e-mail to difadmin@battlefront.com with the details of when the game hangs up (ie, discard, change altitude, etc.). I've also seen some cases where the game seems to hang up, but if you minimize the window, and then restore it again, it kicks back in.

[/QB]Tried doing the minimize/ restore thing. No such luck. When the game hangs up I can still click on any plane to get pilot info and I can see what cards my leader has. I can even go back to DIF Lobby and manage pilots. However, the computer will not do anything in the game that it is currently involved in. Actually receivedan error message durring the game when my leader was shot down on a 1:1 flight. It occurred on turn 3, my leader was flying a Ki-27 Nate(L). Message stated "Object reference not set to an instance of an object"...."at bartbert games.difo.client.forms.mainForm.command PlayCard(string command(XML)". While copying this message down another 2 or 3 came up stating difo.sharedGame Engine Class. Process Set Damage (string command...) I am running WIN98SE... Need help!!!
