Barcelona 1936 Posted May 12, 2006 Share Posted May 12, 2006 About the french army and its perfomance in the first stages of the war IMHO one of the reason of the defeat was the military doctrine, for instance the artillery french doctrine responded with fire plans that covered every cm of the battlefield but after tens of hours, the germans had a doctrine much faster. I think the French were prepared for a reedition of the WWI with tanks in support of infantry and a extensive trench war. However french soldiers fought with valour like others.
