Ok, judging from things like Kuni's site, theres quite a gathering for the SC Subculture in the larger wargaming Culture. In following this audience, i thought it might be interesting for a little sac-religious spin off.

THE SC BIBLE

Anyone is free to contribute to the books of the Bible, I ask that contributions be made 1 chapter at a time atleast, as an example, and to see if this little zaniness has a place or not, I have decided to go out on a limb (and right angering Moon :D ) and Post the following:

The Strategic Command Bible

The Book of Creation

Chapter One The Creation

1.

1 In the beginning God created the PC War Game.

2 And the Genre was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of 3R and CoS moved upon the face of the waters.

3 And God said, Let there be the game: and there was the game.

4 And God saw the game that it was good: and God divided the game from the lame.

5 And God called the Game ‘SC’, and the darkness he called ‘everything else’. And the hexes and the Dutch Gambits were the first game.

6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the game community, and let it divide the players from the newbs.

7 And God made the firmament, and divided the players which were under the firmament from the nwebs which were unworthy of the firmament: and it was so.

8 And God called the firmament the Strategic Command Forum. And the posts came forth in multitudes, the second phase.

9 And God said, Let the game be made available to the masses, and let them experience this. And it was so.

10 And the critics called the game ‘CoS’; and the gathering of gamers became the community and God saw that it was good.

11 And God said, Let the forum bring forth a special few, who shall bring forth fruit: and it was so.

12 And the members brought forth custom campaigns, and mods yielding graphics of every kind, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

13 And God said, Behold, I have given you every mod bearing member, which is upon the face of all the forum, and every post, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

14 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given this game for meat: and it was so.

15 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the third phase.

Well that would be akin to belonging to an isolated league I think Carl smile.gif

But a more precise interpetation, would be to assume that according to the Mormon SC bible, all other Grand Strategy games were simply in denial of the one true game.

They had all fallen away from the straight and narrow. They had embraced ideas, practices and beliefs that would surely damn their advocates.

And truely, Hubert is the Prophet. And only those he sanctions are given true authourity to go forth and design real mods.

And I was obviously a Mormon to long for my own good heheh smile.gif

And for all the old Grogs,

There is the Church of... AAWRP.

(... Association of Aimlessly Wandering

Retired People)

Where the whole church is made of Styrofoam

In the event of ooops, the inevitable

Spills and falls,

And the Altar is kept quite brightly lighted,

And the icons in niches are old stuffed dolls,

And kneeling is not a matter of if, but when,

But... not really required at all,

Since you’d need far too many ushers,

So the crowd could unstiffen... upright again!

And the litany is only a very few words

Croaked out, over and over and over:

"Accept my humble donations

And my closely approximate prayer,

But taketh not O Lord my reading glasses, my

Hearing aid, or... my favorite TV easy-chair."

And the communion consists of: Viagra

Concealed in marshmallows, and for a chaser,

It’s Milk of Magnesia

Supped from a shallow Dixie Cup,

And in the end,

When the morning sun becomes a midnight moon,

The Grogs will mighty! arise as one,

Hup, 2, 3, hup - Up!

And sing out appropriate praises:

"Please O Hubert give us SC2 ... and soon!

We’ve been waiting since forever, or so

It seems to us,

And don’t argue you - young guns!

Yer elders know a thing or two!

We ALL need... a little, a LOT more!

Armchair war-gaming fun!

Ummm, and... oh yeah... Amen. smile.gif

In that SC Bible, that CvM hath so wryly provided, I do remember reading something... hmmmm, something... about

"Thou shalt not cast aspersions on yer fellow war gaming enthusiasts, in the likely event that the mote in yer eye is actually the size of a boulder."

Besides, God does not dally in the very, very, VERY tiny doings of the Human, He wishes to allow us FREE WILL so that we might MUCK UP all and everything as we please! ;)
