Cantona66 Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Hi, does anyone more experience that the computer is very slow when trying to move units? I just updated my computer so when playing the old SC2 it´s quite fast, but now, when trying the demo it takes very long time: first i click on the unit, then it takes a couple of seconds before it´s lights up and is beeing ready to be moved and then afer i move it it takes more time before it´s actually moved.
Gorgin Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 No, I find that the WaW demo plays at the same speed as SC2
targul Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Mine seemed slightly slower but it wasnt much.
Hubert Cater Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Cantona66, We discovered an issue with some video cards but the solution is a simple workaround. I would suggest either or both of the following: * Once in game and in the MAIN MENU screen go to the SETTINGS dialog and change the bit depth to 16 bits. For example your current setting might be: 1280x1024x32 Change this to: 1280x1024x16 * Also I would suggest running the game in full screen mode if you continue to find some slowdown since full screen mode optimizes DirectX much faster than in windowed mode Hope this helps, Hubert
Hubert Cater Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Note this issue is also covered in the Demo README.txt file that can be found in your Demo installation directory. It also is displayed during the installation process.
Cantona66 Posted October 22, 2007 Author Posted October 22, 2007 I tried to have 1280x1024x16 and then most of the screen gets white, only parts is seen (I have a graphic card Radeon 2400). See picture
Hubert Cater Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Can you try a reboot to see if that corrects the issue?
Cantona66 Posted October 22, 2007 Author Posted October 22, 2007 Yes, i had this problem just when i had downloaded the demo yesterday, and it´s the same today also. It´s really annoying since i just upgraded my computer (new CPU, mainboard and graphic board) to be able to play SC2 faster and the regular SC2 is so nice to play now.
Hubert Cater Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Cantona66, Couple of questions for you: 1) Does the game play faster in 16 bit mode? 2) If you change your system to run in 16 bit mode and then subsequently run the game in 16 bit mode does the graphical error still occur?
Hubert Cater Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 I would also suggest to try and upgrade with the latest video driver for your card as well as the latest version of DirectX just to see if that helps.
Cantona66 Posted October 22, 2007 Author Posted October 22, 2007 1. yes, when running 16 bit mode it´s like normal SC2 2. the graphical error still occur then also. I have tried both available campaigns, same problems on both
Hubert Cater Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Can you try upgrading to the latest video card driver as well as DirectX to see if that helps. If not send me an email at support@furysoftware.com Hubert
