James Crowley
Take an all-tank battle. Side A three tanks. Side B three tanks. Side A gets lucky: three "catastrophic" hits on B After action report (assuming 5 man crews); 15 casualties, 3 KIA. Seems unlikely. Although undocumented (other than on forum, AFAIK), catastrophic hits represent the fuel/ammo going-up pretty much instantly. Not likely to be any survivors from that. It's obviously not a big deal but this does somewhat invalidate the AAR's wherby they seem to apportion KIA's and overall casualties on a 1 to 3 ratio. Just an observation. Thin Red Line
Maybe it has already been explained somewhere else, but I'm curious to know how this KIA figure is calculated . Is it based on how the game was (i.e. a detailed squad by squad follow-up during action) or is it random and calculated only at end ?
Rick614
I believe the wounded/kia are assigned randomly after the fact.
Thin Red Line
Well, if it's random it explains this kind of unconsistent AAR...
Sailor Malan
The manual IIRC points this out. Casualties in the game are just that (not classified WIA or KIA). At the end, they are just randomly (within limits) split. The total count is definitive, the split is not (chrome only) [ February 02, 2002, 11:23 AM: Message edited by: Sailor Malan ]
wadepm
On a related note...why doesn't the AAR list the casualties caused by the arty under the FO's stats?
