cyberlettuce
i wonder if someone could clarify the effective difference between artillery spotters equipped with radios and those without. (as far as i can see the spotting times are the same.)
x13th
Radio equiped spottters *move* faster. I belive that is about it.
Foxbat
Since audio travels about as fast on wire as it does through the air the actual time before the rounds start dropping is practically the same But as x13 points out the wire FO is less flexible in its movements on the battlefield (and it can't be carried in vehicles). Panzer Leader
I'm curious how to tell the difference in the purchase screen. The other difference is radio spotters take longer to call in the arty.

It lists how many tubes, how much ammo, the organizational level of the battery, and whether it's wire or radio. WWB
Radio spotters move faster and can ride vehicles. Wire spotters actually have better time-to-FFE based on Moon's statement in the Gamespy interview. WWB
demoss
Wire spotters actually have better time-to-FFE based on Moon's statement in the Gamespy interview. I have observed this as well. I suspect experience plays a role as well, but haven't done tests to verify it yet.
