psw 223 Radio Car?

Recommended Posts

Hmm...I didn't find what the radio car is used for from those links. At least not with cursory glance...someone just write it here in plain english smile.gif .

Edited: Found it finally...they are used as HQs for other armoured cars.

Cheers,

M.S.

No! No! You got it all wrong!

They were the big panel-sided armored cars that toured around the front-lines, setting up live broadcasts from panzer laager sites and giving away T-shirts with "K-OKW Rox da Steppe!" emblazoned on them, and giving away free tickets to the Lale Anderson concert to the third landser to call in from Kiev.

The radio car was part of the normal armored car patrol. The radio car had that big "bed frame" antenna on it and was thus capable of talking over long distances and reporting what the patrol found to HQ in the rear. The typical patrol was like 2 ACs with guns and 1 with a radio.

Check out Panzer Aces 2 from Franz Kurowski (Fedorowicz Publishing) for the career of a rather successful AC driver. The guy in question, being the patrol leader, usually rode in a radio car.

I've also noticed a large number of various infantry formations which are pretty much identical, but with different organizational names. Nice historical touch but not much to differentiate them from their close brethren.

The radio car fits into this category. Now if they get around to adding more detailed radio, artillery and C&C rules, ornamental units like the radio car could get interesting.

WOuld this tractor require a brand-new graphical model from anything already in the game? If so, there's your answer. BFC maxed out .bmp space on the CD, so they had to share some models, and the Radio Car is the same as the usual A.C.
