...................................
Similar to the US Engineers problem which IIRC was fixed in the patch, this time it's the '44 British Infantry battalion which is ruled out of purchasing by vastly inflated prices for attached AFV's (Wasps) - I don't know if the game will be patched further, but would submit that as a stock infantry battalion should be a common purchase option it is worth addressing. While I'm here I'm also curious to know - did all those flamethrower teams really get used by the Brits as a generic part of their platoons? They are a pain (and an expensive one) to use in CMAK. Thanks.
guachi
Is this caused because there are dates where the '44 Infantry battalion is available for purchase but a component unit (in this case the Wasp) is not available? Jason
Redwolf
The Wasp standalone is only available from April 45 on IIRC. Please enter that into the official bugs thread.

...................................
Hmmm, a further investigation definitely confirms what you guys are saying, and unfortunately it seems to me that the British Infantry Battalion is royally screwed up. Wasps become available in Feb '45 at which point the cost of an Inf Btn drops by 50% (because the Wasps are not 500 points each ) However, from Dec '44 to Jan '45 inclusive the Brits are left without the chance of purchasing a vanilla Inf Btn because of the Wasp problem. Both Inf Btn '44s and Inf Btn '45s are affected by this. Secondly, the Brits do not get the chance to purchase an Inf Btn '44 until November '44, they are smitten by the Wasp problem, and almost immediately superceeded by the Inf Btn '45 in January '45. Prior to November '44 the only option is to purchase an Inf Btn '43, this doesn't seem right. Thirdly the plague of flamethrower teams which inflate the price of the Battalions affects both '44s and '45s. Perversely there are no flamethrower teams at all in any of the Engineering companies  ISTM that logically the FT teams need taking out of the Infantry Battalions and adding into the Engineers. A search of previous threads doesn't help, so any chance of some of the boards resident grogs commenting? A summary: <= Oct '44.....Inf Btn '43 only available. Nov '44.....Inf Btn '43 & Inf Btn '44 available* Dec '44.....Inf Btn '44 available* Jan '45.....Inf Btn '44 & Inf Btn '45 available** Feb '45.....Inf Btn '44 & Inf Btn '45 available*** *....... Wasp problem rules out purchasing '44s **...... Wasp problem rules out purchasing '44s + '45s ***.... Wasp problem goes away Suggested fixes FWIW : A) Resolve Wasp cost problem Reschedule '44 Inf Btn availablility C) Move FT teams out of '44 and '45 Inf Btns, and into the Engineer Co's. Thoughts appreciated. [ March 29, 2004, 08:51 AM: Message edited by: Pheasant Plucker ]

flamingknives
Is this on standard or variable rarity? Getting rid of the FTs would be a really strong move. You've got ~10% of your platoon which is useless in 49 out of 50 battles.
Madmatt
I'll bring this to the attention of Charles. Thanks for reporting it! Madmatt
