Col Deadmarsh
What exactly is a remote MG like the one on halftracks and does it have a 360 degree firing arc? Does the gunner have to be unbuttoned to shoot or can he fire buttoned up?
Sergei
Hmm, which halftrack has a remote MG? I know that late war StuG's have them. They can be fired unbuttoned, I think the fire arc is limited though.
securityguard
How did they aim with remote mg's anyways? With a mini parascope, or did they just guess?
Denwad
The german remotes have periscopes. I also believe it is possible to rotate it 360, but I don't think you'd be able to aim it all the way around ( obstructions inside the crew compartment etc. ) high-tech modern versions use cameras and video screens.

It's not listed in the unit info screen, but they will fire while buttoned up. (But don't feel bad about missing it --- it was a couple of years before I found that out, myself).
Bone_Vulture
If I remember correctly: the remote MG is treated like a flexible one, and it can and will be fired, even if the tank is buttoned up.
flamingknives
IIRC, the MGs on the 250/251s are listed as 'forward' so it can fire when buttoned but has a restricted arc.
