HardRock
Hi, Been playing wargames since the 70s..buy most all of them. I bought CM1 and CM2 when they came out but was never really into the go and watch turn sequence. Anyway...wanting a little more relaxed game from the fast paced of TOW I decided to download the lastest, CMAK. I also downloaded a couple west front scenarios. It's nice they're in one file without all the separate map files, scripts etc.. My question is, and I really answered it with the scen dl but still...Is plugging in the europe scenarios in CMAK the same as an updated CMBO? I always hate when sequels come out with a different theatre and that theatre of course is updated with new improvements to the original game but the old one isn't. But it seems with the scenarios available made by people infact you can Also I take it CMAK has come along way over the other two for the better?
HardRock
BTW. Nice work stoffel on the Cleraux scenario. Just what I wanted. I did that scenario many years back with armor miniatures on a big table and remember all the books I had to read to get it right. So much time spent to do these historical scenarios I'm well aware of. Ditto for the rest of you scenario designers. Many thanks!
Sergei
There's some small differences in TO&E's between CMAK and CMBO, for instance Cromwell's and IIRC Tiger II's weren't used in Italy. But mostly it does a nice job. Oh, and Italy is in Europe!
The_Enigma
Yea theres lots and lots of scenarios based within North West Europe available. A few compromises have to may though. As stated above there no Cromwells, King Tigers, Comets, M26s etc For instance, one scenario used Valentines in place as Cromwells, it worked out ok. I recently used a Churchill tank to sub as a M26 other then Shermans usally end up doing a goo enough job. You should check this map out: Link
JoMac
Hello HardRock, I remember when first got into playing WWII miniatures, it was back in the late 70s and early 80s playing HO ROCO Tanks & Figs with a set of rules called Tractics by Gary Gygax. Later I got into GHQ & C&C 1/285 scale WWII Mirco-Armour, still have a fair collection. Joe

HardRock
Thanks for the map link. Since I DL'd the clervaux scenario and it was indeed Europe. I figured well, it is infact CMBO updated in a sense but just want to know anything I was missing. Hey JOMc67..I still got over 600 285th scale micro armor and a ton of inf..including everything needed for a D-Day scenario. Did some HO too. Ever hear of Arnold Hendricks '44 miniature rules? that's what we used. Been meaning to put it on Ebay as I'll never play again. Those were the days huh..argue over line of sight...you can't see me..get the string out..see it cuts the corner...ugh:) Broompatrol..the Eurpope is the latest fad in popes..give it a try:)
JoMac
HardRock, Never heard of those rules, but have about a dozen or so that I carefully selected over the years. Yes, I remember all too well those line of sight arguements, lol. Figure I have about 10 good yrs left of TableTop Miniature and Computer gaming before I leave the scene all together.
HardRock
Most miniature players liked the 1:1 rules. '44 was a set of rules for platoon scale (the only one at the time) where a unit= a platoon. They used PMS (platoon markers)and were sized something like 1"x21/2" rectangle and was to equal the attack frontage of a plt (100m)at the narrow end and defense frontage (250m) at the long end. These markers took up space and you couldn't go through them. So if you were defending with 6 platoons you might face them lengthwise covering a sector. I've stopped playing tabletop and like you prolly got 10 years left on the computer stuff..
