At newsgroup alt.binaries.e-book.flood someone just posted the following Osprey books:

Panther Variants

Flammpanzer German flamethrower tanks

StuGIII Assualt Gun 1940-42

Tiger Heavy Tank 1942-45

Kingtiger Heavy Tank 1942-45

If you search back far enough in the group you will also find these for uniforms:

The Italian Army 1940-45

US Army in WWII, The Pacific

Japanese Army 1931-45

Hermann Goering Division

Waffen SS 1 to 5 Divisions

They are in yEnc format and are PDF books.

This was done with the copyright laws in mind? I know nothing about newsgroups. The publisher okayed this?

Not a chance, but there are a lot of digitized Ospreys floating around the seedy digital underworld. I don't know who took it upon themselves to scan them in, but they're out there.

Definitely illegal, unless Osprey has been around for hundred years...

Don't know about that bit. But books are on those newsgroups all the time. The Osprey books have been appearing for some time now.

Get them or don't, your decision.

But I was looking over the files. Modders should fine some ideas for their work.

Well, I've forwarded the link to this thread to Osprey Publishing, I guess if it is a big deal to them, they will take the appropriate actions with the newsgroup in question.

As a published author myself, I always find it disheartening to see people encouraging others to steal the work of respected artists and writers.

I know that if we posted here about where to get a "free" version of CMAK the thread would be locked and the information deleted, and rightly so.
