YankeeDog
Caught this one by accident the other night: If an enemy infantry unit begins a turn as 'spotted' to any degree, but you then lose contact with said unit over the course of turn, you can find out whether or not the unit is still alive at the end of the turn if you let the movie run out to the end of the turn, and then hit the 'start' button to cycle the movie back to the beginning. Here's what happens: The infantry unit icon BRIEFLY appears as an 'dead body' in the unit's start-of-turn location before reverting to 'upright' (or pinned, or whatever) status at second :01. It's a convenient, but gamey, way to find out if enemy infantry units are actually dead or not, especially if you are playing EFOW, where eliminated enemy infantry units often become lost contact icons rather than confirmed 'eliminated' markers. Hopefully, this can be fixed for CMAK. Cheers, YD
Sergei
You can already look at the unit location display. If it shows the last known terrain type (like "woods") then it's still alive. If it's empty, it has passed.
YankeeDog
That's kind of funny. Like the soldiers have "gone on to a better place". In any event, IMHO both should be fixed - otherwise there's no point in having eliminated units evolve to lost contact markers some of the time. flamingknives
A similar bug occurs with buildings - If you lose contact (goes to generic marker) and the building remains transparent, then the unit is still there. If the unit switches to generic and the building goes opaque, then they're dead.
Thin Red Line
There may be the same kind of bug for guns : When you area fire (with a tank for example) at a gun location showing only a marker, if you destroy the gun, when you look at the kills screen of your unit, the gun will appear as casualty even if the marker is still there and you don't actually have LOS at the "knocked out" gun.

That is interesting! that is a "sort of" gamey loophole I have never looked to see if it works but I will take your word for it. thanks -tom w
