John Kettler
I tried in vain to find Katyusha rocket explosive load stats at Russian Battlefield www.battlefield.ru, but over in the Forum there, I found this fascinating thread: http://www.battlefield.ru/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?s=9f1b96e474dc8aa7bb257767a4cdebf8;act=ST;f=2;t=79 There was a weird artifact in the URL which may or may not be important, "RBF" right before the "http" string. Sorry for the long URL, but for some reason the usual cut and paste drill didn't work. Sergei
Is it really necessary to know precisely how many people died in which war? Is this any longer about historical research rather than a statistical hobby for those inclined so? John Kettler
Sergei, Given the longtime paucity of real data, thanks to a Soviet mania for classifying, so help me, even soap production stats, let alone combat losses (e.g.,evidence shows Stalin blatantly lied about the huge Battle of Berlin casualties), I believe the topic to be entirely valid and that it provides a valuable perspective for CMBB players as to the enormous scope, scale, and human costs of Eastern Front combat. For too long now purge and collectivization policy losses have been lumped in with battle losses, obscuring the truth of both. NameUsedBefore
I can't comprehend 50-million people, much less them being dead. The statistics are mind-boggling; I believe "3%" of the world population was destroyed during the war. That's incredible when you really sit down and think that over.
Mad Russian
What is really mind boggling is what we are capable of doing to each other.
NameUsedBefore
War is our past-time, that's what I've always said.
