Rediroc
No its not a France bashing session: In the demo: By this I mean when the Axis player breaks through the first line of defence. (The AI withdraws from the frontiers to Paris) It seems that the AI withdraws the French air force to the UK and most of foreign (potentially vichy french) units to english territorys. Lets not even get into the French navy. These forces (especially the air force) almost always seem to "survive" to join the Free French. It does seem a bit "unrealistic", especially considering the lack of co-operation and communication between the English and French. Lets not forget that the English opened fire on the French fleet to prevent its fall into Hitler's hands... I think these values should be edited a bit. On the topic of Vichy France (mentioned in previous posts here), I liked the way the old game High Command dealt with it. You had the option of creating the puppet Vichy, or just absorbing all of France (at a penalty). If I recall, if Germany took all of France, there was a random chance that each French territory would join the Free French.
Lars
The French AI can't really afford to reinforce the airfleet or leave it at risk for the tank groups so it withdraws it. I haven't seen any Free French armies after the fall of Paris, just the naval units.
BloodyBucket
Must...resist...urge...to...make...jokes.... The air unit to England thing is kind of strange from an historical aspect. You're right, the French and Brits were hardly best buddies by the time France fell.
Rediroc
Exactly bloody, that is my point. While they were losing the Battle of France, the French were pressing the Brits for more air defence. In this demo its the other way around. I have yet to see the French Air Force not flee & become "Free" based out of England.
Dan Neely
I've spotted a free french corp in gibralter in an AI game once.

pzgndr
Could the Free French determination process in SC be explained to us? In 3R, it was pretty simple and made sense, even for France's North African minors. Seems like one of the preconditions for German acceptance of Vichy France should be that surviving French forces redeploy to neutral Vichy. Maybe provide a small chance for units outside France to defect to Britain, but this should not be automatic. Vichy should get remaining French forces so it has some defense. Also, if it ever joins the Axis, it would have forces to offer - another incentive for Germany to leave it alone. The current process doesn't make sense. Rediroc
The game I played today had a free French infantry unit defending Malta. Another anomaly I noticed was I invaded Tunisia with Italian infantry before France surrendered. When France surrendered that Italian unit just vanished! It wasn't withdrawn back to Libya...
