Valencia falls, 2 northern corps destroyed, Italians advance from Gibraltar against Madrid. Spain will probably go down next turn. Bulgaria has joined axis too. Russia readiness at 60% something. The largest battle in history commence when der wehrmacht cross the border in blixtkrieg style. 8 Panzer armies smashing Russian frontal defence supported by 7 air-fleets jets level 4 and some armies and corps. In the north Army group Kesselring trash a german army and heads for the bridges over the river Dvina. Panzer spearheads smash a Russian airfleet and Luftwaffe destroys the remaining planes.. Meanwhile in the center, army groups Manstein and Rundstedt surrounds some armies and also destroys some other. Russian panzer units knocked down in strength near Minsk and Kiev In the south we overrun Odessa forward-defences and cut off the line of retreat. Result of the initial onslaught are 8 of Russias 9 frontal armies destroyed or surrounded. 2 armoured units destroyed, 1 air-fleet destroyed. In the mediterranen axis declares war on Greece and Iraq. Iraq surrenders to german forces with help of the Italians. On the Iberian peninsula Portugal is also conquered by Germany. Athens captured but Greece fight on. The question the world is asking is - can the red army recover from this initial blow to survive long enough for the Americans to save the day??? Germany collects around 620 MMP per turn now. Destroy units Number 2 is by far IMO the most important. As axis my objective is to prevent the Red army to grow by each turn eg destroying at least 4 corps to prevent Russia using it's 450 MMP to buy armies and HQ. This turn was all about unit destruction. North; In the north we kill a damaged army north of Königsberg and destroy another that was digging in outside Minsk. We have a small bridgehead over the Dvina-river but need to move up forces to mount a serious offensive. Center; In the center our infantry is mopping up and kills 2 russian armies near Brest-Litovsk. Supported by air and 3-4 tank armies we capture Kiev. But our forces are in bad shape after the closure of the frontier battles. South; Odessa captured, 2 russian armies destroyed. A german tank army down to 3 in strength. Baltic sea; We sink a russian cruiser pounding at Stockholm harbour. Iraq; Italians get a surtprise attack against them when they move into russia. Greece; Greece surrenders. But that left the Red army dangerously exposed. We strike back and capture some empty cities(Kharkov, RIga) and take Minsk by force. Russian mine captured. Unfortunatley our panzer-spearheads run into surprise attacks near Smolensk and on the dniepr River. We have reach the bottleneck of the crimea too. Russian losses; 3 corps and 1 army, another corps cut off near Riga. Russia collects less than 400 MMP every turn now. They got around 12 units, 2 airfleets and 2 cruisers left. UK landed in France and americans in Portugal. IRAQ; An italian army moves up and trades casualties with a russian panzer corps. PORTUGAL; Italian BB and a newly produced sub sinks Royal Oak outside Gibraltar. BB Massachussets sunk too. The American invasion is hit hard by well prepared armies and luftwaffe. HQ Eisenhower and 3rd Army vanish, americans prepare to land more troops next turn. One US corps isolated now north of Lisbon. FRANCE; UK invades with a lot of weak corps and a HQ. We kill HQ Montgomery and corps. We hold Brest so the invaders are stuck without city supply in Normandy. RUSSIA; We capture Smolensk and 2 mines near Rostov, all abondoned. We run into some surprise attacks which cost us because of the units low supply level. We are outside Moscow now. Disorder must have got the siberian transfer, we are spread very thin right now.
