Lindan
for some stunning pictures from the Red Army Museum Kubinka visit Warpheads page www.nahverteidigungswaffe.de www.jagdtiger.de every piece of equipment ever fielded on the Ostfront is on display there. As this is nominally 'our' page I have the duty to post this here (Warphead's too lazy as usual ). This makes up for the fact that he does all the work... So hush, hush, go there, keep moving, don't stop! ----------------------------------------- Croda: "You hang out with a guy named "Warphead?" "Nuts!" John Kettler
Lindan and Warphead (hope I got that right), Your site is first rate, replete with superb, large format, high resolution color shots of armor in museums I'd never even heard of before. It's one thing to see a black and white photo of an AFV; quite another to see multiple color views of one so crisp it is as though you're there yourself. The mod community owes you a great debt, for you've uncovered camouflage schemes most have never seen before. I think it's also great that you have provided photos of artillery pieces, flak and softskins as well. Your Kubinka photos are the best I've seen to date anywhere. I'm so impressed with what you've done that I'm planning on getting in touch with friends at a model club with which I'm affiliated. The guys will go nuts! Keep up the excellent work! Gratefully, John Kettler
Kanonier Reichmann
What I would love to know is how a British Comet found its way into the Red Army Tank Museum in Kubinka. Surely none of these late model MBT's were ever exported to the USSR under lend lease. You're right by the way, an absolutely fascinating pictorial collection of the real thing, in colour no less. Guest Warphead-
Most of the vehicles were lend-lease. Some were captured or used by other countries and given to the USSR in the 50s or later. In recent years they even exchanged items with Bovington. Tiger: The Kubinka staff promised that all vehicles still had the original camo they were captured in (or were restored in that way) And thanks for the kind words *blush* We will visit a few places more in 2001 ------------------ http://www.nahverteidigungswaffe.de "Haben die Krupp-Werke Betriebsausflug? Polar
Very interesting! Thanks Lindan! Isn't it interesting that the only tank in poor condition is the Pershing? And also... do the Russians refer to all tanks as Panzers? Or just the non-russian tanks? Because the Pershing is marked as an Panzer M26. Polar
Ooops! Maybe that first picture is not a Pershing... What is it though??? Joe ------------------ "I had no shoes and I cried, then I met a man who had no socks." - Fred Mertz

Gremlin
Very cool site Check this thread for some more color pics from Britain's Imperial War Museum: http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum1/HTML/011426.html There was another, but I can't find it with the search engine--anyone? ------------------ War is cruel and you cannot refine it. --Sherman
Guest Warphead-
Polar: I think the Pershing without tracks and stuff was in Sinsheim/Germany. The Russians call their tanks something like "Tank" too. Hence the T(ank)-34 (I hope I am correct with this...) ------------------ http://www.nahverteidigungswaffe.de "Haben die Krupp-Werke Betriebsausflug? Da rollt ja halb Deutschland auf mich zu..." Guest Warphead-
AbnAirCav: *hehe* No! You are misunderstanding the ! I wanted to hint that Tiger should take the inspiration and do some modding. The Russians are extremely proud of their victory in The Great Patriotic War. And Kubinka was off limits for non military personnel until the early 90s. I think it highly unlikely (though not impossible) that they "faked" a historical correct camo.
