voice over:

"They lived on an Island Paradise a thousand miles from the outside world."

"A beautiful island of running streams, deep forests, and quaint towns."

"A land that time forgot."

"But greed, wealth, and a general history of poorly prepared dinner dishes, made the residents of the little island of Fea Cebola step off into,"

"WAR!"

"Two cities, locked in fierce combat over earth shaking issues, watch as armies mobilize."

"Great Generals look to their maps, and watch as armies start to march."

"On the border, a silence falls as the leaves start to sprout spring green, even as snow pregnant clouds still threaten civilization".

"These are the stories of the great conflict which shook 20,000 square kilometers of the modern world."

"Welcome to the Tales of the Magenta Onion"

Which means, in a nutshell, that a new way to play CM is being developed by a most unlikely collection of freaks, losers and weirdos. Or rather, people just like you.

Slapdragon gets the credit for this one.

He's come up with a set of rules that will allow us to generate force lists and select pre-generated maps for CM battles.

The milieu is the island paradise of Fea Cebola. And since we have nothing better to do, we are going the whole hog. Red and Blue sides will have flags, websites, and will write entertaining AARs and issue slightly less factual but probably more entertaining press releases on the conduct of the war.

The war has something to do with magic onions, by the way.

This rule set breaks down into a number of fairly detailed sections on troop quality, movement and so on. Do check out the General forum threads for more.

and about half way through this

Here's a Summary:

12 sturdy CM players are being into two teams.

Each team votes on an Army leader.

Each team is then allowed to pick a force of troops from the lists using points (which we will call Rials for the hell of it). That force will consist of a certain number of crack and elite troops (the Republican Guard), a bunch of Regulars (the Army) and a bunch of conscripts (the National Guard). These force choices will be negotiated with the GM to assure that they are balanced.

The GM will publish a bunch of rules on handling politics, economy, and battles. Then the forces are divided and assigned to the Generals. Then the battles for the red and blue sides begin.

We look forward to many nice battles, until CM:BB comes out, at which time we do this again with the Eastern Front.

What the hell is wrong with you?! Is this some kind of sick play on a Donovan song?

That's it, you pillock, I'm off to the Peng Challenge Thread to challenge your worthless arse.

You apparently have too much time on your hands.

Whatever side I'm in, it's the evil one.

As ever.

I born to kill godless commies like you, that had given the beautiful Red color a bad name.
