Hawkmek Posted March 27, 2001 Share Posted March 27, 2001 Leonidas, As I have said, I use the trackball, and mine too is the kind I roll with my index finger. I fight it works great for FPS. I play Unreal Tournament, Day of Defeat, and Op Flash. I have a terrible time trying to FPS with a regular mouse now. As was mentioned above. I've also been playing around with Game Commander, voice recognition software. It's really amazing, since there is no need to go through a voice training mess to get it going. I've not applied it to CM (yet), but it works great on any windows app. So far I've setup Counter Strike and European Air War. It's wonderful! What is your mouse movement Speed?!?!(also called Pointer speed) Setting this to high will do more to reduce fatigue then anything.. imho. The higher the setting the less movement of the hand you have to make. It may be difficult at first but once you get use to it you will never go back. Also the mousing surface can make a HUGE difference in performance. I thought this was not true until I got a RatPadz mouse pad (ratpadz.com) Yikes! I would say my movement speed incresed from 30-40% at least. I use a Microsoft Optical mouse, but Ratpadz is better for ball mice! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

As a long time CAD draftsman (15 years) the best is a tablet. 16 programmable buttons (64 commands with shift and such) plus whatever you put on the tablet menus, you can't beat it. For all you guys with carpal tunnel, the real key is your work area. Get rid of that desk and make yourself a real CAD station. Built mine for $30 (one sheet of 3/4" plywood and 5 "2 x 4"'s). I've used mine for over a year now and love it. Also, I would almost bet that I have seen a lefty track ball. Don't remember by who but I was thinking I did. Course, I guess I could be wrong. It's designed by a physician (orthopedic specialist), and supposed to be very ergonomic. I haven't tried it myself, 'cause I just got a hint of the existance two days ago...
