Chris Knapp
After playing the demo for about 2 weeks non-stop, I finally got the full game last week and played one of the large brit scenarios (The meeting engagement on June 7), and I have to say that this game is fantastic! I want to tip my hat to the designers and congradulate them on a job very very well done. An new customer, Chris

Hoopenfaust2
Hopefully all of you have visited the "Vimy House" part of the war museum. If you haven't you really have to check it out. They've got a T-34 as well as other russian AFVeez. I got a tour one Saturday from a frontline veteran. He was a great guy. Hopefully if you go, a commissionar will escort you through the building. Barticus
I make it a point to go there at least once every summer, the exhibits change often enough to keep it interesting. Have you heard the story on how the museum got the T34/85?, it's a fairly good one. As well, there is a wargaming club that meets at the war museum every second Sunday (or is it Saturday?), if you're interested in that sort of thing. I have previous commitments that prevent me from participating, but I usually manage to make it to their twice yearly open house. B

MikeyD
All this praise, and that's BEFORE he's had the chance to mod all the default game art into a virtual-reality wonder! Reminds me of the day that CM first arrived at my door (snif).
Barticus
quote:
Originally posted by 109 Gustav: Lets hear it!

Of course, I have no way of verifying this story, but I have heard it told several times now from trustworthy sources, so here goes. The Government of Canada is throwing some sort of shindig at which there are both Canada's Minister of Defence as well as the Soviet Ambassador to Canada. During a conversation, the Minister mentions that it is a shame the Canadian War Museum does not have an example of the T34, the tank which revolutionized armour design. The Ambassador says that "he can arrange something". Several weeks or months later (depending on the version of the story) the War Museum receives the T34/85. I know, I know, it sounds kind of funny, but it still makes a good story. Having seen the tank in question, it does seem believable in that the tank is in excellent shape, and is displayed with the driver hatch open and the interior illuminated. The display also boasts a Pzkpfw II, Pzkpfw I, one of the Italian tanks (M38 or M40), the hulk of a Sturmgeschutz III, Centurion, several Shermans, a half track and a dozen other vehicles I have forgotten. .....so now you know. Spook
Hey, you forum vets, just where are your manners? Here we have yet another CM convert, in Chris Knapp. Is it not a cause for celebration each time our ranks increase? So welcome, Chris. Many happy days of CM gaming for you. I'll leave it to others here, though, to inform you how to be "assimilated" by the CMBorg, or of certain perverse forum oddities like the "Peng threads." (And rest assured, Chris, while it may take you days to download & install all of the graphics & sounds mods out there for CM, after you do, your socks may be knocked off much further!!) Many CM support sites out there, but here's a good one for a start: http://www.combatmission.com/
Hoopenfaust2
I'm just warm and fuzzy that a fellow Ottawan has purchased the game ( I do get canadian kickbacks from BTS) and enjoys like 1000's of others. I do not buy computer games anymore because I've found the one I want. Except maybe for CM2

As you already know this game is a wee bit addictive... The June 7 scenario...was it First Clash at Cambes? Its one of my favs...the 1st big battle I played. I was the Brits...it plays better as the Germans if you're playing the AI, since the AI doesn't tow the Infantry Guns around, which is a huge waste of assets. again, welcome.
