Cubbies Phan
Ummm, I don't get it. Is the unit portrait supposed to be Patton or did you just rename the TC?
Kekk1
Yes it is Patton. US tanker unit mod: Patton. Don't you recognize him?
Guest Babra
Was he a full-back for Notre Dame?

Kekk1
Hmm, you hurt my feelings. I know that anyone could have done that, I just happened to find the pic and I tought I'd be cool to have Patton in the portrait. And what does that full-bag joke mean? Even more laugh for you now I guess. I'll go and jump somewhere deep. You are cruel.
kmead
Kek1 The full back joke refers to Pattons head gear, which was a modified football (american) helmet. In the late thirties Patton came up with a uniform for tankers that used a football helmet and a double breasted bib coverall in green. It was dubbed the Green Hornet after the radio show character popular at the time. You did a fine job, the laugh was not at you but more a cultural bit of ignorance on Babra's part as it is well known he was a graduate of West Point and was never a football player. Patton was a horseman of note, and represented the US at the 1912 (?) Summer Olympics. keep up the good work and I like the Mod.

Oh, that Patton fella. Gotcha Gotta watch them pronoun reference errors. I always got a kick out of the football-style helmet. I wonder how well it worked in the real world? Probably well enough -- I guess it's only job is to keep one from knocking one's self senseless inside the tank. Re the mod: It's as good a mod as any, but if I handed out compliments every time a decent mod came out, I'd look like the year's top kiss-ass. There's too many good ones coming out daily it seems. kmead
I think Patton took alot of ribbing for the initial uniform. He did influence the actual helmet used during the war, it wasn't a football helmet for the real tankers, Notre Dame or West Point... Just trying to be a somewhat positive influence I've given up on the a** kissing, ask anyone I work with
Kekk1
Right, maybe I should actually start reading these forums to get to know some people instead of just looking for new mods and news about CM2. I never noticed that helmet thing. You're not cruel afterall. pffsdsda
bfamily33
You sure that's him? He doesn't look a damn thing like Geroge C. Scott. Fyi, Sinpoet had a nice George C. Scott portrait on CMHQ. Also, if you go to Last Defense you'll find a brown tanker helmet mod that I modeled after the football-tanker type helmet. Lastly, did you know the the Lipizzaner Stallions were surrendered / turned over to Patton's army during the war. There's some really neat photos in Vienna of Patton's trucks transporting the horses and being escorted by some armor. for history - http://www.lipizzan.net/cavalry.htm A Lipizzaner and a King Tiger - an amazing combination caught together in the same photo- http://9sshohenstaufen.com/VeteranSection.html
gunnergoz
Can't be Patton...he's not slapping anyone.
Michael Dorosh
Where is the rest of it? That photo of Patton shows him in a command tank, with red, white, blue and yellow strips around the turret (I think it is an M2 tank, no?) and a big three star plate mounted atop the main armament. Let's see a Patton command tank mod....!!!
Michael Dorosh
Come to think of it, the tank commander in the hatch does seem to have the patented Patton No.2 Scowl on his face....
