I would imagine a winter hedgerow would be an earthen mound (with snow on it) topped by dead branches - lots of them, intertwined. However I feel the earthen bank bit of the bocage needs to emphasized (ie larger/deeper) with grass/foliage covering that contrasts with the upper foliage, I just found it beyond my skills with graphics. MrClark, you're color pallete was pretty wild. You should have based it on DD's grass or Velvet grass.
