B M Deleted Posted October 15, 2000 Share Posted October 15, 2000 Well, now that I moved from New York, I find myself no longer using a Mac, but a PC. Within this option I began to download some stuff. I have come to the conclusion that CM Hq is the greatest, when it comes to mods. I spent the last two days, downloading the Mods from that site. Here's what I downloaded: New Sounds- These are great. After playing CM for months on end...you get a little sick of some of the same old audios. It's like giving viagra to a couple, married for 60 years. It really spruced things up! Small Arms Mods-I like these because they are a tad different and look cleaner and more realistic. Winter Uniforms: Both Axis and Allied. This just adds to the fun of a winter scenario. tank textures: Another thing I really liked. I downloaded almost all the German ones. Even, though, I never play as Germany, I think it is a nice piece of eye candy. Swastika Mod: I HATED it when BTS said there weren't going to be any swastikas in the game. Swastikas are a historical symbol vital to the representation of Germany during the Second World War. Anyways, the Swastikas are back, and I like them. SS Uniforms: I found a wealth of SS uniforms. They're great, the only downside is that all my troops, had to wear SS helmets, so I modified the game, to where all german troops would have the same headgear and the SS could still have they're uniforms. Green Wehrmacht Uniforms: THIS IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR! Where the hell were these things in the first place? What were GRAY uniforms doing in the game before these green ones? I have never seen a Blackish Gray uniform worn by any member of the Wehrmacht in any movie, documentary or book. I think the green uniforms are WAY better. MODS I'd like to see: Well, if you have the talent to do so, that'd be cool if you could make: Tile Texture of Sand Free French Helmet & Uniform - although I heard this was out...I haven't been able to find it Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Pvt. Ryan Posted October 15, 2000 Share Posted October 15, 2000 There is no sand tile. To mod one of the terrain tiles to look like sand would require that one of the existing tiles be dropped. I was hoping after being away for a few months, that there would be a mod for just such a texture/tile. But unfortunatley, I found zilch. I wasn't really thinking about a "beach sand" texture/tile, but more like a universal desert sand tile/texture. I think that would be more useful, as I could extend game play out of western Europe and into North Africa. That'd be fun! A sand tile could easily be made, but there is a finite number of terrain tiles. A new one can't be added and if an existing tile was modified that tile would always appear as sand. Major Tom Posted October 15, 2000 Share Posted October 15, 2000 Welcome back Manieri. The Free French forces were primarily equipped with American uniforms and weapons. Sure, a few helmet's were left from 1940, but, most used American surplus. It was just simpler for BTS to model them after the American troops rather than wasting time and effort adding something that was rarely used. As far as I can tell the German uniform is done accurately. I have a multitude of pictures from that era, and theatre of war, and the Germans are uniformed in a British-Style-Grey uniform rather than the 1940 German-Green uniform. Look at most early movies made about the American Civil War, most Rebel troops are equipped with Grey uniforms, even though historians know that they were primarily equipped with Butternut coloured uniforms. Movies aren't the best judge on history! Possibly some units managed to keep a supply of older uniforms (elite formations, officers, etc.), but, the regular soldiers did not have this luxury and had to get replacements and made do with this simpler new uniform.
