zmoney
Do the Syrians not have radios? Even the FO’s? I’m attempting to call for fire on a TRP in a test scenario I’m doing but the Syrian SF FO doesn’t seem to have a radio and has an 18 minute delay even though firing on a TRP. After looking at my troops none seem to have radios.

Sgt.Squarehead
Wish I fully understood it myself.....Sometimes they can talk, others they can't. This thread has some examples: My own testing with Syrian Special Forces seemed to suggest that they couldn't use the radios in their own UAZ-469s.
sawomi
Maybe it has something to do with EW? As intended or as a bug. from Engine Manual 4.0: Quote p.70: ...In modern titles such as CMSF, radios are such a common commodity in even less advanced armies that the placement of radios is not a major concern. Even squads are usually armed with the military-grade equivalent to a walkie-talkie, allowing them to remain connected to C2 over a respectable distance and out of visual or audio range. ... and p. 80: Electronic Warfare ... LIGHT: - Hand-held “walkie-talkie” radio communications are degraded. Manpack radios (as carried by “radio operator” soldiers), and vehicle-mounted radios are unaf- fected. ... MEDIUM: - Hand-held radio equipment no longer functions. - Manpack radio and vehicle-mounted radios still function but are degraded. ... STRONG: - All radio and satellite communications links are disabled. Units must maintain C3 links via verbal face-to-face communications or visual hand signals. ... I wondered if that might be the reason for Red's terrible comms in CM:SF1, but it shouldn't have carried over to CM:SF2 where EW is modelled in the editor (you can choose an EW Strength setting for either side).
