Scipio
I think I read somewhere that CMSF1 scenarios are compatible with CMSF2. Should this also apply to the editor? I have noticed that I can load CMSF1 scenarios in the editor, but if I save them and try to load the saved scenario again, the game crashes completely. Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong?
Erwin
IIRC A gamed saved in CMSF1 will not run in CMSF2 if ported over to the CMSF2 SAVED GAME folder. But, a CMSF1 scenario or campaign can be ported to CMSF2 SCENARIOS (or CAMPAIGNS) folder and should run in CMSF2.
Scipio
Just to make it clear - I'm only talking about the editor, not a Saved Game. I load the scenario into the editor, save it without changing anything, reload this saved scenario into the editor - and CMSF2 crashes
IICptMillerII
I think it depends on the scenario. I know of a few scenario's I've loaded from CMSF1 into CMSF2 and it worked without any issue. I did have an odd crash here or there, but the crash usually wasn't persistent. I think some scenario's might give you trouble based on what units are present. Because the TO&E has been changed so much since CMSF1 (as in the structure of it and how it is coded in the game) some of the oldest scenario's might give you trouble due to incompatible TO&E arrangements. Just speculating though. The short answer is, some CMSF1 scenario's work in CMSF2, and some don't.
Scipio
I tested a bit further and found that the problem in the editor is more likely to occur if you have loaded a scenario before. So - I load the CMx1 Scenario 'Test Attack' in the editor - I save the CMx1 scenario as 'Test Attack-A - I load CMx1 Scenario 'Test-Attack-A' in the Editor -> Crash But when I restart CM I can load the scenario 'Test-Attack-A' without any problems and continue working on it. Also playing the scneario is as far as I can tell without any problems. So this is a small bug, but it can be worked around.

If you want to avoid the hard crash issue, load up any other scenario between the two. So for example: Load Test Attack. Save as Test Attack - A Load Scipio Best Scenario Ever. Load Test Attack - A. If you follow this pattern it should be just fine.
