Euri
One of very the few things that annoy me in BS is the fact that once one creates a scout or antitank detachment from a US squad, then it is not possible to split the remain in two. This is frustrating as there remains a team of six-seven men which (a ) has redundant men if it enters a building (b ) it cannot be ordered to advance (c ) it risks taking many casualties (especially if hit by an RPG while in a building) (d ) cannot create any smaller detachements (it would be great for example it I could create two detachments: one antitank and one scout) The questions is: Is this in accordance to US infantry doctrine or a feature introduced by design Thank you Edited August 10, 2015 by Euri
akd
It's a limit of design. Two-team squads can only break down into an A and B team.

Vanir Ausf B
i hate how my scout teams always seem to get a disposable rpg when i play russians... +1. And if the squad has two of them the scouts take both!
Sublime
yeah thats crazy to me. I could see if they had 3-4 taking one like in case we run into armor but honestly I dont want them taking ANY because scouts are the most likely of all my men to get shot. Except BMPs. Those things blow up more than Pintos. Seriously though, its uncanny how often they take them. They then become an AT team not a scout team, Im not leading with all the squads AT firepower besides the RPG 7
womble
If we could split squads how we liked, there'd be a lot of two-man elements floating around... and none of them would quite have the equipment we wanted them to have Maybe when we get a proper inventory system, we'll be at a stage where squads can be split smaller and "squad gear" passed around as necessary, such actions taking a reasonable degree of time and requiring proximity. There would be limits, still, and maybe some restrictions on how far some "teams" would spread from their "Leader" or "Asst". And maybe the XO could be given some command function other than "taking over when the Old Man is geeked". Letting teams spread across two AS would be a partial solution to the crowding you get when you're left with a 6- or 7-man "rump" team having split off a 2-man AT or Scout team from the squad. Even allowing squads to split "one one or two man element with no leader" (i.e. a Scout or AT team, or Driver, when that gets implemented) plus a team per "leader" (Leader, Asst). For those nations that have the tactical flexibility to split teams. Or some of them. Or for some experience/leadership levels.
