V3.0

Yes, that is the correct version number (1.2 I mean). Hummm not sure about map size. There is nothing you should need to do. Don't for get the map size controls are a little odd in that the initial map is the centre of a virtual map and it can only ever be the centre. By that I mean you can expend the map to the East as far as it can go and then shrink from the West but you still will not be able to expend more to the East.

So to get max size you need to + in both directions. I am not sure if that will help or not. I have never tried to max out the map size.

It just so happens I have both versions installed. I was able to get bigger maps to work.

With 1.12 I was only able to get 4000 x 4000. No matter the NS size the EW size would not exceed 4K.

With 1.2 I was able to get 4200 x 4300 or there abouts. But if I reduced the width to 2900m then I was able to get the NS size to 6K.

I do not know what the exact rules are but there you go you can get some different shapes and bigger maps

Thanks for the quick replies guys:

Based on your responses I imagine bigger means more squares. Maybe.

Regardless of the version I max out at 4160 EW and 4160 NS. I've not played with shrinking NS to say 3500 and seeing if EW will go further nor have I tried messing with expanding both the E and then the W or growing N and then the S.

I'll check it out but at this time it doesn't seem like maps are bigger (and they don't seem to load any faster either though that may just be perception due to my expectations).

I mainly got vs 3.0 so I could play around with it before the new Ukraine modern release comes out (I'm thinking hard about getting that). With modern units 4k meters just doesn't cut it. Works fine for WWII stuff, though. If I can go out to say 7 or 8K meters in one direction and keep at least 3 to 3.5K in the other might be worth a look.

There is a sq km limit and I am not sure you can go so wide as 7-8k. I don't know too many places where you are going to get an unobstructed 7k that is not a desert so I don't understand why you think 4k won't cut it. I have a 4.5x4 map I have played around with 3 battalions on and there was plenty of room. Better make sure your PC has enough oomph though.

PC has plenty of oomph. Every thing is set to max and CM runs just fine at 50+ FPS.

4K will cut it - for WWII - but for Black Sea -that uses modern units, - when it comes out (main reason I got 3.0 to see if the maps are bigger - they're not it seems) 4K maps are just not acceptable. Having served in real life modern units I say that from experience. Modern conventional warfare is all about maneuver and using long range weapons to advantage. 4K maps would be like putting two boxers in a closet and telling them to go for it.

Well BFC are always working on allowing for bigger maps and faster load times and better performance. I remember reading something Steve wrote about how they could not quite get the maps size to where they wanted due to other constraints - wish I could find that for ya.

Oh look at that - I took one more try before posting and thank you google site:battlefront.com
