Heirloom_Tomato
Are the different types of infantry modeled or represented differently in the game? What I mean is if I have a veteran paratrooper with high motivation and a veteran infantryman with high motivation, will the paratrooper take more "abuse" before becoming pinned or broken? Also are there any differences for infantry between the nations? Say Canadians vs British vs Americans? Or between The SS and Heer?
AttorneyAtWar
I find the SS to fight quite ferociously in any battle or QB I have fought against it in, quite fitting really.
Bartokomus
Unless they've reversed course secretly, BFC has said in the past no nation or formation receives a morale or ability modifier. that is granted in the game editor under the quality and morale choices.
Holman
Behavior is a function of morale, training, leadership, and condition. All of these being equal, two squads of different types will probably deal with the same stress the same way. However, TO&E does make a difference as well. Take two squads with the same ratings but different equipment, and the results of a given encounter will be different. The squad with bolt-action weapons will not do as well as the squad with automatic weapons, if only because they won't be administering as much suppression to the enemy as they are receiving. It depends on what they're facing, of course, but being able to dish out more punishment will shape the encounter differently. It's up to the scenario designer to establish realistic attributes for units. While it's possible for a squad of German sailors to perform as well as a squad of American paratroopers if they have the same ratings, this equivalence would ever occur in real life and shouldn't occur in scenarios.
womble
AIUI, paratroop or other elite organisations might be assigned higher "soft" factors when you choose "typical" in the force selection screen, but as others have said, one Vet, High, +2 trooper will react similar to any other, whether they're Italian line infantry or elite special forces.
Heirloom_Tomato
Thanks for the responses. I now know what I need to do for the scenario I am working on.
