Now that the Relative System is gone

Recommended Posts

Now that Battlefront has discontinued support for the Relative System for hotkey reference and usage, what's the best system to use?

I liked the Relative System very much. I would select an "MCSA" Command Panel with F5 or some other F button, then I would use the UIO buttons to select the top row of commands.

My guess is that the next best system is to use the F5 - Fx buttons to select the correct MCSA panel, and then use the Mouse to select the Command.

Does someone have a hotkeys.txt file that continues to utilize the Relative System for 2.01 CMBN? If so, could you please post the text in this thread so I can copy/paste and use?

Thanks.

Problems with relative position key commands were starting to multiply with v2.0. Not only did 'K' bail your tank crews at the most inconvenient times but adding new commands to the game was pushing old orders out of their 'traditional' positions.

I kind'a like the new default commands except we really really need a 'cancel target' key command in there somewhere. Having to search the menu item for that every time is inconvenient. At least its very easy to add it in the 'options' menu now.

Hi,

I was able to use the keyboard keys to a minimum in CM games using the free X-Mouse Button Control program to remap my mouse buttons, so for example I changed the camera movement to be like the Total War games by remaping the pressing of the mouse wheel to be like a right click of CM and remapped right click to be like pressing the space bar thus bringing the onscreen menu with a simple right click (likeCMx1) which speeds up things greatly, no need to look at the keyboard so much.

More info abouth this;

and btw I'm looking for PBEM opponents, if interested drop me a line.
