End mission when player reaches a point? (and noob parameters questions)

How do you end a mission without having the AI auto-surrender?

Like having your convoy reach a certain point on the map, and then "mission accomplished"

And can someone explain to me how the mission parameters factor in in the game? Are the points given just a messure how well you did? Or do they actually decide if you win or lose, like if the time runs out?

AFAIK The AI won't auto-surrender unless it has taken a certain level of casualties determined by the designer to be "unacceptable, so we bug out".

Even if you take ALL the victory locations BUT the AI max casualty figure is still not met the AI will fight on.

In CM2 you basically need to CEASEFIRE if there is nothing left for you to do, unless you really want to winkle out every last enemy survivor on the map.

Bummer that every scenario has to be an out-right battle. Recon and transport missions are also important in war. But I guess that is why it is called "Combat Mission" not "Recon Mission".

Maybe I misunderstood your intent. You can set the enemy to surrender/bug out with very low casualties plus you have gained the victory conditions. That would make it more like recon(?).

You can give the player "spot" objectives. Later iterations of CMx2 (and probably CMSF2 will) also have "exit" objectives, so recon and transport missions can be done. Actually IIRC CMA has several transport missions where you are to move a couple of trucks from one end of the map to the other while keeping them alive.
