CMBN v2 update when?

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

I'm not finding it with a search. Is there any hint yet of when CMBN will be updated?

I've been here a long time, so I know the formal answer is "when it's done." I also know it never hurts to ask for a hint. Sometimes the brain jar leaks.

Thanks!

Yes, been waiting for that for a while. And I think there was some talks earlier that there would be at least one new base game (or two, bagration and bulge?) and the OMG module for BN and couple of modules for FI during the next 12 month period. And that 12 month period was mentioned during the summer so there should be a bit more stuff coming up than the BN 2.0 upgrade. Or was it during the 2013? But lots of stuff should be out and I hope the guys at BFC can deliver that too.

My expectation is CMBN v2 before Xmas, then Market-Garden in the Spring, a module for Italy in the Summer, and a Bulge game by next Christmas. I don't know what to expect for the East Front, since there's more new stuff required there.

Note that this schedule is pulled entirely out of thin air and optimism.

All that's really required for the Bagration title is the Russian kit as the German kit has already been done, at least up until late 1944. I'd expect the Bagration title to cover the fighting up until about September with the modules taking it further to the end of the war. With the 1943 German kit making an appearance in CMFI you might argue that work is also ongoing on the 1943 East title title as well.

But that's a fair amount of work, on top of Soviet OOB stuff and a bunch of new terrain and buildings graphics. Let's not underestimate the ease with which these things get cranked out. I know BFC has talked up that aspect of CMx2, but a certain amount of that may have been viewing the issue through rose-tinted glasses. Never, never, never underestimate the number and obduracy of unanticipated problems that can come with any project, especially one having anything to do with computers and people.
