poesel
I was a bit curious just how troop experience translates into combat results. My regulars got creamed by Kuderians in our last QB and his had higher experience. TL;DR: the results were as expected - rule of thumb: each experience level gives ~15% better chance to win an encounter The setup was 12 shooting ranges at 200m range. Italian fanatic infantry on both sides. I choose the Italians because they have the least numbers of automatic weapons (I think) so the test would not be skewed by weapon type. The test was run for 1 minute after which causalities were counted. Each range was counted and judged separately. Each setup was run 3 times so there's 36 data points per group. The 'Axis' was always regular, the Allies changed. Criticism: arbitrary distance, not many tests, fanatics. The losses would be different for different distances but its only a comparison. With non-fanatics the losses for the loosers would probably be higher and we would have less draws. The results were as expected so more tests would probably not show anything. Setup: Regular vs: (regular wins % / other wins % / draw %) conscript: 78 / 14 / 8 green: 44 / 33 / 22 regular: 50 / 47 / 3 veteran: 39 / 50 / 11 ace: 14 / 69 / 17 crack: 14 / 78 / 8 The scenarios are here: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8811801/Infantry%20quality%20test.zip The raw data here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ApF6zBjLENkUdF9jYlhhUjZObmRnRy03bFhSdk53emc
eltorrente
Ace? It goes - veteran/crack/elite - not veteran/ace/crack Interesting results, and it's about what I figured from many past games.

Ah, sorry. I have the german ranks and there it goes Wehrpflichtiger/Grün/Regulär/Veteran/As/Elite. My translation was wrong.
sburke
may want to try that blue on blue or red on red to get more explicit results.
Childress
Ah, sorry. I have the german ranks and there it goes Wehrpflichtiger/Grün/Regulär/Veteran/As/Elite. My translation was wrong. Easy mistake to make. English can be so confusing! For laughs I edited a couple of the Experience classifications. 'Conscript' is now 'Lumpen-proletariat' and Elite units have become 'The Foo Fighters'.
Baneman
may want to try that blue on blue or red on red to get more explicit results. Isn't that what he did with Italians on both sides ?
