Computer problems

Recommended Posts

Tonight while saving a pbem my computer just shutdown. It took 15 minutes to get it to start back up and god only knows how or why it started back up. Never had anything like this happen before. I checked resource monitor and my disk usage and hard faults are pretty extreme. Does any body have a clue about what maybe the problem? It was really hot and I could smell something burning. It is up and running but I'm a bit freaked.

My computer is a toshiba qosmio, GeForce GTS250 M, 6 gigs of ram don't know where to check for processor speed (I'm a Mac guy)

Thanks for any help.

How long have you had the machine? Overheating is usually caused by dust and lint build-up. All computers suck in dust that accumulates on the fans and heat sinks until over time it looses the ability to cool itself. Any computer repair shop will be able to open it up and clean it out for you. If you are adventurous there are numerous Youtube videos showing how to do it yourself.
