Avoiding Invisible Textures

I've finally used RezExplode, and I'm looking through the US infantry uniform files. I ran a quick "hue/saturation" adjustment in Photoshop on one of the uniforms. I checked it in game and it doesn't show, rendering the areas that I modded invisible. While it was interesting to see the little pixel troops without helmets, it's not the desired effect.

I saved as a .bmp and double checked my sizing etc (I really didn't do much beyond the above adjustment)- anything else that may have gone amiss?
