He's an OCDed completest that loves the East Front. LOL. I am not worried.

    Mord.

I can't see how he's got OCD if my Red Thunder "inaccuracies" thread has some issues that are glaring. But then if he really did have OCD we probably would have seen Red Thunder only last year or something, hahah.

I don't recognize the uniform and badge of the fellow shooting the M4.

He's a French soldier from the 1er RPIMa. It's written in the video description. He even has a Croix de Lorraine tattoo, which I didn't notice. Didn't notice the French Centre Europe camo either...

  3. Actually, after a bit of thinking, I got that feeling when playing the WW2 CM's. I think you can get why.

What you're saying is right, the effect is just right for modern rifles in intermediate calibers and such, but not so much for WW2. Any chance for a WW2 version?

  4. The thing is, the footage is shot from only a single angle and illumination. Not much to build the effects on in my opinion.

Certain cameras probably don't catch the flash properly either. I think it's better to check multiple videos.

I'll try out the night effects.

  5. Lost Command came out in the 60's, by the way. I haven't seen it, yet at least.

Talking about actual 50's French war films about colonies lost, La 317e Section is a very good pick.

Authentic battle scenes, well-written characters who gracefully avoid cliché. Hot-and-humid jungles. Pretty far from the Hollywood that Lost Command seems to have come out of now that I look closer at it.

The film would be quite hard to obtain though. I have it on my computer, however there aren't any subtitles. I can make some.

  6. By the way, if you want side caps on your tank commanders, all you need to do is extract the base game files, rename some model and texture files and you're good to go. If you don't feel like you can do it, then I'll be happy to do it for you if you ask. Unfortunately, there aren't any field cap models in the games.

  7. Here's the field cap for officers (the insignia aren't present):

The one for enlisted and NCO's:

The side cap for officers (Panzer arm):

The one for enlisted and NCO's (Artillery arm):

The crusher cap could be worn with a white braid for officers, however it seems like it wasn't done often in the field, like the old Panzer Meyer shows us:

  8. Wait. We're talking about the WW2 games, right?

The padded berets were not in use anymore after the Battle of France, which no games cover as of now. German tank commanders did wear side caps and field caps, with white piping for officers.

I think it helps distinguish between the rest of the crew (which we don't see much of anyway) and the commander, and because it's just plain classy and correct anyway.

Speaking of the ZIS-3 gun shield angle issue, know of no ATG with a variable angle shield, but the Soviet antitank gunners on the 45 mm ATGs could and did remove the shield altogether in order to reduce the vertical profile as much as possible to aid gun concealment. If memory serves, they might also remove the wheels, too. These things are described  in Artem Drabkin's Panzer Killers, in the section on the 45 mm Destroyer units. Would further observe that the relevant portion of the book makes clear that the guns go into position at night, are camouflaged, then fight the entire antitank battle without ever displacing. The dray horse is nearby, in cover, but the gun stays until the action is concluded. Then and only then might it swap firing positions by hand or be towed elsewhere.

    Regards,

    John Kettler

The top part of the 53-K's gun shield could be lowered as well. It could easily be done in combat.

AT guns in this game definitely need an overhaul. They need to be treated like vehicles which can be bailed out of, because once the crew abandons it, it becomes absolutely useless.

Yeah, I think it's because CMRT & Black Sea share many of the Game Files, however, only the proper ones will be used for that particular Game...You might notice this if you install CMRT incorrectly (corrupted), and end-up having your PPSH's in the UI showing AK-74/AKM instead.

Neat, I thought it might have been that as well.

    Absolutely a terrible scenario design.

I think we should call you "that guy" now.

That guy who digs up a 6 year old post to take a dump on a 6 year old scenario.

By the way, some arguments would be nice. Personally the only big problem I've found is that the scenario's time limit is too short. But that can easily be edited.
